Island Chemistry events are strictly for people aged 25 and over.

Individual events may be advertised for a particular approximate age range. For example, an event advertised as 35–55 approx. is primarily intended for people within or reasonably close to that age group.

We use approximate age ranges to help create an enjoyable event where attendees are more likely to meet people within a suitable dating age range.

If you fall significantly outside the advertised age range, please contact us before booking.

Island Chemistry events are designed for single adults who are genuinely interested in meeting new people.

We want everyone attending to feel comfortable, respected and welcome.

We reserve the right to refuse admission or ask somebody to leave if their behaviour is inappropriate, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, excessively intoxicated or makes another guest feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

Places must be booked in advance unless otherwise stated.

Your place is confirmed once payment has been successfully received and you have received confirmation of your booking.

Tickets apply to the particular Island Chemistry event and date booked.

Please ensure that the information supplied when booking is accurate.

Island Chemistry events take place on a specific date and places are limited.

If you are unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible.

Tickets are non-refundable if you simply change your mind or are unable to attend. We balance the numbers carefully for each event, so an unused place cannot be resold on the night.

If you let us know with sufficient notice, we may be able to transfer your ticket to another Island Chemistry event. This is at our discretion and cannot be guaranteed.

If Island Chemistry cancels an event, ticket holders will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer their booking to another Island Chemistry event.

If an event needs to be postponed, ticket holders will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the new date or receive a refund.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

We will make reasonable efforts to create a balanced and enjoyable speed-dating event.

However, we cannot guarantee an exact number of attendees, an equal number of participants in each group, or a particular spread of ages.

People may occasionally cancel or fail to attend at short notice, which is outside our control.

If we believe in advance that there are insufficient bookings to provide a worthwhile speed-dating experience, we may postpone or cancel the event. If we cancel, the refund or transfer options described above will apply.

On arrival, each participant will be given an individual number.

During the event you will have a series of short dates. The number and length of dates may vary slightly depending on attendance, although the format will be explained at the beginning of the evening.

You will be given a scorecard on which you can privately record the numbers of people you would be interested in seeing again.

Selecting YES simply means that you would be happy to continue the conversation with that person.

A match occurs when both people select YES for each other.

At the end of the event, the Island Chemistry organisers will compare the scorecards using participant numbers.

If you have a mutual match, we will let you know privately.

Where possible, mutual matches will be invited to meet in a separate area so that they can decide for themselves whether they would like to exchange telephone numbers, social media details or any other contact information.

Island Chemistry will not give your personal contact details to another attendee.

There is no obligation to exchange contact details, even if you have made a mutual match.

Your selections are private.

Scorecards are used only for identifying mutual matches during the event. Once the matching process has been completed and the information is no longer required, scorecards will be securely destroyed.

Please do not photograph or look at another person's scorecard without their permission.

When you book, we will collect certain information needed to administer your booking, such as your name and contact details and any other information reasonably required for the event.

We will handle personal information in accordance with applicable UK data-protection law and our Privacy Notice.

Your booking contact details will not be supplied to another Island Chemistry attendee for dating purposes.

Island Chemistry provides social events where adults can meet other adults in person.

We do not carry out background checks on attendees and cannot verify or guarantee another attendee's identity, relationship status, personal circumstances, intentions or suitability as a potential partner.

A mutual match is not an endorsement or recommendation by Island Chemistry.

If you decide to exchange contact details, communicate with or meet another attendee after an event, this is your own personal decision.

We encourage everyone to use the same sensible precautions they would when meeting anybody new.

We want Island Chemistry to be relaxed, friendly and enjoyable.

Please treat other attendees, venue staff and the Island Chemistry organisers with respect.

Unwanted touching, harassment, aggressive behaviour, discriminatory or offensive conduct, persistent unwanted attention or excessive intoxication will not be accepted.

If another attendee tells you they are not interested, please respect their decision.

Anyone behaving inappropriately may be asked to leave the event.

Alcohol is available to purchase from the venue throughout the event.

Guests are responsible for their own alcohol consumption and behaviour.

The venue and/or Island Chemistry reserve the right to refuse further participation or ask someone to leave if they are excessively intoxicated or if their behaviour is affecting the comfort, safety or enjoyment of other guests.

Please drink responsibly and make appropriate arrangements for travelling home.

We hope you'll meet someone you'd like to see again, but naturally we cannot guarantee that every attendee will make a mutual match.

The purpose of Island Chemistry is to provide the opportunity to meet other single people in a relaxed, organised environment.

No refund will be due simply because you do not make a match.

We will not photograph or film attendees for promotional or social-media purposes without appropriate permission.

Please also respect the privacy of other guests when taking photographs during an event.

Occasionally we may need to make reasonable changes to the running order, timings, room arrangement or speed-dating format because of attendance numbers or circumstances at the venue.

Any significant change affecting the event will be communicated to ticket holders where reasonably possible.

Island Chemistry events may take place at third-party venues.

Guests must comply with reasonable rules and instructions given by the venue and its staff.

Island Chemistry is about real people and real connections.

We want our events to provide a safe, friendly and relaxed alternative to dating apps and give people the opportunity to meet face-to-face.

Please come with an open mind, be kind to the people you meet and enjoy the evening.
